The Department of Health (DOH) on Friday said it has recorded the first case of death related to e-cigarette or vape-associated lung injury (EVALI).

DOH assistant secretary Albert Domingo said the victim was a 22-year-old who died of heart attack following severe lung injury linked to his daily vape use for the past 2 years. 

Despite the opposition of the DOH and health experts, the controversial “Vape Bill” or the Vaporized Nicotine and Non-Nicotine Products Regulation Act, lapsed into law in 2022.
